Many Chicago business icons come to mind in remembrance of the Great Migration’s 100th year Anniversary. Our featured author, Kathleen Y. Robinson chronicles her family’s journey as part of the great migration in her book, The Store. Kathleen provides a revealing insider view of a proud family with strong southern roots and life with her husband Warren, doing business inside and outside of Rob’s.
Her story’s roots began in Mississippi and Tennessee. Cities like Memphis provided a starting point for several million people who journeyed from the south to the north seeking a better life. This was the heart of that generation’s mindset, a time when ‘failure was not an option’ and legacy continued.

Welcome back to the Cider Enterprises Book Club Blog. The fourth season of our Conference Call begins on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 7PM Central Standard Time with a NEW CALL-IN NUMBER at 218-548-7622, Access Code is 20112#.
Our focus on ‘Over-Comers’ will feature several Chicago based authors and promoters who tell their stories of overcoming Chicago’s Literary Desert. And in recognition of the 100th year of the Great Migration, we will also feature personal stories from authors who’ve experienced a time period when ‘failure was not an option.’
Our first guest of the season is Asadah Kirkland, the Soulful Chicago Book Fair founder and promoter. Asadah and her book, “Beating Black Kids,” was also featured last season on the Cider Enterprises Book Club. Since then, she has elevated her status and increased her accomplishments to produce the first Black Literary Art Fair. To her credit, Asadah not only sold the City and corporate sponsors on the idea, but she additionally gathered an overflow of quality authors from a multitude of genre’s to the extent that Soulful Book Fair is already set for 2017! Coach Linda Washington is our featured author on the Cider Enterprises Book Club Conference Call on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Coach Linda’s book, “Journey to Greatness: A Spiritual Guide on How to Step Into Your Greatness, Own Your Personal Power & Create the Life You Want,” will close out the third season of authors, who share their personal stories on over-coming obstacles in life. These author stories are testaments to my love of books, the ease and convenience of telephone technology to connect authors with readers, and my purpose to continue engaging people in meaningful conversations.

February is a month of great celebration for me primarily because of my born day on Feb. 11th. Yes, it’s My Birthday month! In addition, I will also be engaging in “A Three-Part Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr. Johnnie Colemon,” my beloved Spiritual Mother and one of the greatest ‘over-comers’ I’ve ever had the opportunity to personally learn and grow from. The Cider Enterprises Book Club Conference Call will be concluding this three-part celebration with a discussion about Rev. Dr. Johnnie Colemon’s thought-transformation series “It Works If You Work It.” Rev. Coleman’s five-part study contains simple, yet powerful affirmations; and more importantly, she shares her beliefs about these affirmations. In retrospection, I find it even more amazing to note the alignment of her study with Universal Truths. Join us in part three of the celebration on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at 7 pm CST, by calling 218-339-9469, access code 20112#.

I declare 2016 as “The Year of Completion!” In keeping with tradition for a New Year, I also have a few predictions, expectations and desires for 2016. I predict that: Entrepreneurship will be more greatly influenced by the politics of the youth and women; and many economic engines will be ignited by their direct action to create more accessibility and accountability in the existing systems. I expect that I will attract more clients seeking excellence of service through the Cider Enterprises Business Coaching and Consulting network of partners. I desire that the physical evidence of “Sistah’s Home – The Place of Love in Action!” is manifested here this year.

Holiday blessings to you! I am ecstatic about the upcoming holidays. It becomes a period of disassembling from the regular schedule and honing into live time with family and friends. This is another blessing in time for me – I get to give and I do receive.
